..as you will find in pp. iii-iv of my Doctoral Thesis

Many people have shared, more or less consciously and to a smaller or greater extent, my PhD journey. 

If it is true that we are dwarves on giants' shoulders, well, during these years I have met so many human-giants, who gave me such a boundless amount of energy, support, curiosity and inspiration, that now I have hard struggles finding the right words to thank them all.
I will be always thankful to all of you.

I would like to particularly express my deep gratitude to my supervisor Massimo, who gave me the opportunity of undertaking this PhD experience. Thank you for being my guide and an authentic inspirational figure in this journey; for all your suggestions, discussions and support.

A grateful thank goes also to my co-supervisor, Andrea, who shares the merit of having pushed me towards this adventure. Thank you for all the great and continuous support, both technical and inspirational.

I'm genuinely thankful also to Detlef for having hosted me at PBL Climate, Air and Energy department and having supported my research with his enthusiastic interest. I admire your unique capability to bring every discussion towards its most interesting boundaries.

— all those special people met along the journey: the phenomenal 0.28 colleagues, with special mention to Alice, Melisa, Gabriele and Andrea for our basketball matches at PoliMi; Salvo, the Ujumbe-team with special mention to Davide and our philosophical discussions; Luca and Giacomo with whom I shared many great moments during my visiting period in the Netherlands; 

— all my friends from the F.O.M. foundation and the broader Oratorian dimension; they have the unique merit of revealing the best part of myself;

— all those friends who have supported me whenever it was necessary. Especially during the most disheartening days of the pandemic outbreak. A particular thank you to Gabbo, Beatrice, Elena, Maurizio, Gabriella and The Party People club;

— my parents, Carla and Giorgio, for their simply unlimited and unconditioned support;

— my sister, Anna, for being the most special person in the universe. 

A gigantic and grateful thank you goes to Giulia with whom I shared and I'm sharing everything. You have borne my deepest difficulties, you deserve my highest joy.
